About Me

Ramses De Vuyst profile picture
I am a multidisciplinary engineer who likes to bring ideas to life. I have a background in production technologies, both in design and field service, and I have a strong interest in the intersection of technology and art. I am currently actively looking for a new full-time role in a dynamic design team. Here are a few technologies I've been working with recently:
  • Solidworks
  • CATIA
  • TRUMPF TruLaser
  • RevoScan
  • Raspberry Pi / Linux
  • HUGO Framework
  • OrcaSlicer
  • Klipper

Experience

Service Engineer - V.A.C. Machines
Dec 2024 - Nov 2025

In my role as Service Engineer I gained valuable insights into the workings of TRUMPF laser cutting machines and the workflow of sheet metal production.

Tasks included everything to do with commissioning, maintenance, and repair of TruLaser and TruFiber machines in a wide range of production environments.

Intern Mechanical Engineer - Anglo Belgian Corporation
Feb 2024 - Jun 2024

During this internship I developed mounting hardware for the oil and water pumps of ABC’s largest engines, the DV36 range.

This was a very challenging project as the tools had to carry hundreds of kilos, be inexpensive, compact enough to fit through an access hatch in a ship hull, and bolt on through an area with very limited clearance available. To get to a good design I interviewed mechanics, found suppliers for hard to find steel profiles, and worked through countless revisions, backed by strength calculations and Solidworks FEA simulations.

For this project I used following tools:

  • CATIA
  • SOLIDWORKS Simulation

Education

2022 - 2024
Bachelor Design and Production Technologies
Odisee, Ghent

In this education I learned how to design mechanical constructions and machines, with an emphasis on realistic manufacturability. I learned practical, real world skills including:

  • CAD in Solidworks
  • CAM in OneCNC
  • Heidenhain TNC 640 Programming
  • Siemens STEP7 PLC programming
  • Working with design norms and standards
  • Realistic tolerancing
  • Subtractive manufacturing
  • Welding
2018 - 2022
Bachelor Industrial Engineering
KU Leuven, Ghent

This educational journey was left unfinished after 3 years as I’m someone who prefers designing and building real world things and applying my knowledge, rather than endlessly focusing on the theoretical concepts.

While I found this course to be too academically focused for what I want to achieve, I did gain a broad knowledge base of theoretical concepts in fields like:

  • Thermodynamics
  • Strength calculations
  • Hydraulics
  • Pneumatics
  • Electrical systems
  • Systems and Control Theory
2012 - 2018
Sciences - Mathematics
Immaculata Maria Instituut
Secondary education focusing on sciences with 6 hours of Mathematics per week.
