Just like the fronts, the rear brakes were completely shot. When I took off the brake drums, puddles of rust formed beneath them. They were flaking with rust and old mud from off roading.
I first stripped everything down and disassembled the brakes. Then I proceeded to sand down all the rust and give the bare metal a nice coat of black paint. The original wheel cylinders were replaced and the brake shoes upgraded to new Brembo’s. Unfortunately while removing the old brake cylinders, the brake lines were bent and kinked, meaning these would also need to be replaced.

Some of the tiedown tabs on the axle rusted through, so these will need to be repaired. The current routing of the lines is left as is for testing purposes as the lines might need to be reflared and shortened in case of leaks.
To finish it all off some shiny new drums were installed and with that, the rear brakes were ready for testing.
